FUNCTION: Actin-associated protein that may play a role in modulating actin-based shape and motility of dendritic spines and renal podocyte foot processes. Seems to be essential for the formation of spine apparatuses in spines of telencephalic neurons, which is involved in synaptic plasticity.
SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cytoplasm › cytoskeleton. Cell junction › tight junction. Perikaryon. Cell projection › dendritic spine. Cell junction › synapse › postsynaptic cell membrane › postsynaptic density. Cell junction › synapse. Note: Localized at the tight junction of cells. In brain, localized to the postsynaptic densities and in the perikarya. Asssociated with dendritic spines of a subset of synapses
Tissue specificity: Expressed in cerebral cortex.

Maintain the lyophilised/reconstituted antibodies frozen at -20°C for long term storage and refrigerated at 2-8°C for a shorter term. When reconstituting, glycerol (1:1) may be added for an additional stability. Avoid freeze and thaw cycles.
