Target

FUNCTION: Displays neurotrophic activity and activates phosphorylation of MAPK1/ERK2, MAPK3/ERK1 and AKT1/AKT in primary cultured neurons. Does not have mitogenic activity in primary cultured astrocytes. May play a role on neuronal differentiation and may have a transient effect on neural cell proliferation in neural precursor cells. Neurotrophic activity is enhanced by binding to heme.
Up-regulated in immortal cells. Induced in estrogen receptor positive breast cancer expressing progesterone receptor.

Storage

Maintain the lyophilised/reconstituted antibodies frozen at -20°C for long term storage and refrigerated at 2-8°C for a shorter term. When reconstituting, glycerol (1:1) may be added for an additional stability. Avoid freeze and thaw cycles.
