Target
FUNCTION: May participate directly in the active transport of drugs into subcellular organelles or influence drug distribution indirectly. Transports glutathione conjugates as leukotriene-c4 (LTC4) and N-ethylmaleimide S-glutathione (NEM-GS).
Defects in ABCC6 are the cause of pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE).
Defects in ABCC6 are the cause of arterial calcification of infancy, generalized, type 2 (GACI2).
Subcellular location: Membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. Note: Localized to the basolateral membrane.
Tissue specificity: Expressed in kidney and liver. Very low expression in other tissues.

Storage
Maintain the lyophilised/reconstituted antibodies frozen at -20C for long term storage and refrigerated at 2-8C for a shorter term. When reconstituting, glycerol (1:1) may be added for an additional stability. Avoid freeze and thaw cycles.
