Target
FUNCTION: Cell adhesion molecule that mediates homophilic cell-cell adhesion in a Ca2+-independent manner. Promotes neurite outgrowth in hippocampal neurons.
Subcellular location: Membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein
Tissue specificity: Predominantly expressed in the brain, with a weak, but broad expression in the cerebral cortex and diencephalic nuclei. Strongly expressed in both the pyramidal layer and the dentate gyrus of the hippocampus. Also detected in other parts of the central nervous system, including the olfactory bulb, pons, cerebellum, and medulla oblongata, as well as in the peripheral nervous system, such as the ganglia of cranial nerves and the dorsal root ganglion during gestation.
Storage
Maintain the lyophilised/reconstituted antibodies frozen at -20C for long term storage and refrigerated at 2-8C for a shorter term. When reconstituting, glycerol (1:1) may be added for an additional stability. Avoid freeze and thaw cycles.
