A synthetic peptide from 1t cytoplasmic domain of human KCNV1 (Kv8.1) conjugated to an immunogenic carrier protein was used as the antigen.

Potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily V member 1, Voltage-gated potassium channel subunit Kv8.1, Neuronal potassium channel alpha subunit HNKA

Function: Potassium channel subunit that does not form functional channels by itself. Modulates KCNB1 and KCNB2 channel activity by shifting the threshold for inactivation to more negative values and by slowing the rate of inactivation. Can down-regulate the channel activity of KCNB1, KCNB2, KCNC4 and KCND1, possibly by trapping them in intracellular membranes.
Tissue specificity: Detected in brain, in neocortex, olfactory tubercle, hippocampus, dentate gyrus, piriform cortex and amygdala. Detected in Purkinje cells and granular cells of the cerebellum, in hippocampal CA4 neurons and neocortex pyramidal cells.
Subcellular location: Cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. Note: Has to be associated with another potassium channel subunit to get inserted in the plasma membrane. Remains intracellular in the absence of KCNB2.

Maintain the lyophilised/reconstituted antibodies frozen at -20°C for long term storage and refrigerated at 2-8°C for a shorter term. When reconstituting, glycerol (1:1) may be added for an additional stability. Avoid freeze and thaw cycles.
