FUNCTION: Probably plays a role in the control of regulated secretion in neural and endocrine cells. Receptor for the botulinium neurotoxin type A/BOTA.
SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cytoplasmic vesicle ⺠secretory vesicle ⺠synaptic vesicle membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. Cytoplasmic vesicle ⺠secretory vesicle ⺠acrosome. Note: Associated with synaptic-like microvesicles but not with insulin-containing vesicles in insulin-secreting cells of the pancreas. Localizes to microvesicles in the pinealocytes. Localizes to the acrosome in spermatids
Tissue specificity: Widely expressed throughout the brain. Specifically expressed by pinealocytes in the pineal gland. Also detected in testis (at protein level). Specifically expressed in neural tissues. Expressed in the spinal cord and in all brain regions with a stronger expression in hippocampus and cortex.

Storage
Maintain the lyophilised/reconstituted antibodies frozen at -20°C for long term storage and refrigerated at 2-8°C for a shorter term. When reconstituting, glycerol (1:1) may be added for an additional stability. Avoid freeze and thaw cycles.
