Immunogen
A synthetic peptide from n-terminal region of human CAP 57 (BPI) conjugated to an immunogenic carrier protein has been used as the antigen.
Accession
Also known
Bactericidal permeability-increasing protein, BPI
Target
Function: The cytotoxic action of BPI is limited to many species of Gram-negative bacteria; this specificity may be explained by a strong affinity of the very basic N-terminal half for the negatively charged lipopolysaccharides that are unique to the Gram-negative bacterial outer envelope. Has antibacterial activity against the Gram-nagative bacterium P.aeruginosa, this activity is inhibited by LPS from P.aeruginosa.
Subcellular location: Secreted. Cytoplasmic granule membrane. Note: Membrane-associated in polymorphonuclear Leukocytes (PMN) granules.
Tissue specificity: Restricted to cells of the myeloid series.
Storage
Maintain the lyophilised/reconstituted antibodies frozen at -20°C for long term storage and refrigerated at 2-8°C for a shorter term. When reconstituting, glycerol (1:1) may be added for an additional stability. Avoid freeze and thaw cycles.
Expiry Date
12 months after reconstitution
Shipping
This item will be shipped to you at ambient temperature in a lyophilised form.
