Immunogen
A synthetic peptide from the c-terminal region of human Cation channel sperm associated protein 2 (CATSPER2) conjugated to blue carrier protein was used as the antigen.

Target
Function: Voltage-gated calcium channel that plays a central role in sperm cell hyperactivation. Controls calcium entry to mediate the hyperactivated motility, a step needed for sperm motility which is essential late in the preparation of sperm for fertilization. Activated by intracellular alkalinization.
Defects in CATSPER2 are a cause of deafness-infertility syndrome (DIS). DIS is characterized by deafness and infertility and is caused by large contiguous gene deletions at 15q15.3 that removes both STRC and CATSPER2 genes.
Subcellular location: Cell projection ⺠cilium ⺠flagellum membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein
Tissue specificity: Testis-specific. Specifically present in the principal piece of sperm tail.

Storage
Maintain the lyophilised/reconstituted antibodies frozen at -20C for long term storage and refrigerated at 2-8C for a shorter term. When reconstituting, glycerol (1:1) may be added for an additional stability. Avoid freeze and thaw cycles.
