Target
FUNCTION: Involved in pH regulation to eliminate acids generated by active metabolism or to counter adverse environmental conditions. Major proton extruding system driven by the inward sodium ion chemical gradient. Plays an important role in signal transduction.
Tissue specificity: Most abundant in colon and small intestine, followed by kidney and stomach.
SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. Note: In intestinal epithelial cells, localizes to the ileal brush border
Storage
Maintain the lyophilised/reconstituted antibodies frozen at -20C for long term storage and refrigerated at 2-8C for a shorter term. When reconstituting, glycerol (1:1) may be added for an additional stability. Avoid freeze and thaw cycles.
